An order that will not say where it learned what it teaches is asking for a trust it has not earned. The Craft of Amen Ra says plainly whose students we are.

Dr. Yosef Ben-Jochannan
Dr. Ben's central argument is the Order's foundation: the civilization of the Nile Valley was African, its Mystery System was the source of what Greece later called philosophy, and the record survives on the walls of the temples for anyone willing to go and look.
We do not treat him as beyond question. He taught students to check the source — including his own. That is the discipline we inherit, and it is why the House of Shu assigns his books rather than summaries of them.

How the Teaching Traveled
The Temples of Kemet
Per Ankh at Waset, Ipet-Isut, Ipet-Resyt, Abdju, Iunu — the schools where the teaching was kept.
The Kushite Restoration
The 25th Dynasty returns the priesthood of Amen to Nubian hands and restores the temples.
The Closing
391 CE onward: imperial decree closes the temples; Philae is the last to fall, c. 537 CE. The teaching goes underground.
The Guilds and the Craft
The operative builders carry symbol and rule forward; in 1717 the Craft takes its modern shape in London.
Prince Hall, 1784
African Lodge No. 459 is chartered and the Craft returns to African hands in the Americas.
Dr. Ben, 20th Century
Dr. Yosef Ben-Jochannan teaches the Nile Valley as source and takes students to the walls themselves.
Dr. Jabade Powell
A student of Dr. Ben carries the instruction forward and founds the Order's present work.

The Craft of Amen Ra is an independent initiatic order. We claim no charter from, and no recognition by, any Grand Lodge or obedience, and we make no claim of unbroken physical descent from an ancient priesthood. What we claim is a line of teaching, named openly above, and a body of study anyone may examine on the Teachings page before petitioning.
